You can now manage fonts as complete families, with full support for color and variable fonts. Your existing font library has automatically been imported into the new system, with fonts grouped into families for easier access to different weights, styles, and variations within a single typeface.

Variable Fonts now render with smooth control over weight, width, and other typographic properties. Variable fonts combine multiple styles (weights, widths, slants) into a single font file, reducing loading times while offering precise control over typography. Key advantages:

• One file instead of many, improving performance

• Adjustable weight, width, and slant for flexible design

• Consistent typography across different devices and screen sizes

Color Fonts now display with their full multi-colored designs, including built-in colors, gradients, and textures that extend typography beyond monochrome styles. They enable visually rich text without additional design steps. Key advantages:

• Support for gradients, patterns, and textures

• Ideal for headlines, titles, and expressive storytelling

This enhanced font management system makes it easier than ever to explore and utilize the full potential of modern typography in your designs.

💡 The font library in the editor already includes the full set of Google Fonts, giving you instant access to hundreds of typefaces — including many variable and color fonts.

Until now, projects were created by manually assembling scene templates from kits. This approach offered flexibility and control, and it's still available. You can continue using scene templates via the Template button under each scene in the editor.

Why add dynamic projects?

While scene templates work well, they don't scale easily or play well with generative AI. Dynamic projects are built for automation and structured input - perfect for AI-powered features like auto-filled variants and fully generated projects. Structured data gives AI a clearer foundation to work from.

What do we mean by "data"?

In dynamic projects, "data" means structured, tabular content used to populate fields in your design. Each row = one project variant.

What's a dynamic binding?

Dynamic bindings link data fields (like a headline) to design elements. When a variant is selected, placeholders are filled with real data. You can create bindings by selecting a layer or piece of text and using the data sidebar.

Beyond static data: Live personalization

Dynamic bindings aren't limited to static datasets. You can also bind elements to live data for ultra-personal brand experiences. Display real-time information like:

• Current day of the week

• Live weather and temperature

• User's location or city

• Time-sensitive content

This creates deeply personalized brand experiences that adapt to each viewer's context in real-time. Note: Live data bindings are available for brand experiences, not web stories.

The reports interface now supports multi-dimensional slicing and customizable metric selection. Filter data across multiple categories simultaneously and choose which specific metrics to display.

This enables more complex analytical questions directly from the reports page. For example, examine which domain performed best each day while breaking down data by device type.

Select multiple dimension filters from the updated interface, then choose your preferred metrics from the display options.

In our latest update, we’ve restructured our app’s navigation to make accessing key areas more straightforward and intuitive. This includes:

• An 'Assets' section, now home to fonts, interactives, icons, brandings, and other essential assets.

• A dedicated 'Settings' section, previously located in the dashboard, for easier configuration access.

• A 'Reports' section where all reporting pages are now organized for convenient, centralized access.

• All account-related sections are now grouped under one page.

Position and Size Units in em and %

• What’s New: Position and size units are now explicitly shown in em (relative to the responsive area) and % (relative to the full story area).

• Benefits: This allows for precise scaling of elements. For example, you can set an image to always fill 50% of the screen, providing greater flexibility in design.

  

Media Layer Object Fit Options

• What’s New: The media layer now supports contain, cover, and stretch settings for images and videos. Previously, the default was cover.

• Benefits: Gain more control over how your media content fits within its container, ensuring it displays exactly as intended.

  

Author Profiles and Organisation Attribution

• What’s New: Assign author profiles to stories even if they don't have a Studio account. Also choose whether to attribute stories to the author or organisation.

We're refining our editor's Layer Transform tool for enhanced precision in element positioning and rotation:

• Alignment Anchors: We've advanced our positioning capabilities. You can now set the alignment and rotation origin to any of the four corners or the midpoint of a layer, moving beyond the previous center-only anchoring. This change addresses the inconsistencies experienced when aligning elements to the edges of the scene, particularly across varying device sizes.

In addition, we're excited to introduce a complementary feature:

• Distribute Media to Scenes: Select multiple media files and distribute them evenly across your story scenes. This feature integrates with the new Alignment Anchors, offering a variety of layout choices that ensure your media is perfectly positioned and scaled, no matter the scene or screen.

Both features aim to streamline your design workflow and maintain consistent aesthetics across all device displays.

We’ve created a new tool to help build/configure Web Story players (carousel units you can embed on your website to promote stories).

Built on top of the popular JavaScript library SwiperJS, they are designed to look good across all devices and come with a lot of available configuration options.

Adding one to your website is as simple as copying the provided script tag and pasting it into your page HTML in the location you would like it to appear.

Player configuration tool

Requires a plan which includes API access.

The animations sidebar has been redesigned to allow users to combine multiple animations on a single layer. This allows for effects such as flying/fading in and then out again. In Brand Stories, it is also possible to define an iteration count and animation direction.

Web Story Animations Demo

Writing mode has been improved, allowing you to see/edit alt or title attributes on media (image and video) layers, as well as see/edit links and CTA layers. The UI for creating links has been changed to be more consistent with the CTA UI. This will make it easier to run final checks on a story before publishing.

We've also added a new setting under Dashboard > General settings: Page title template. This allows you to change the HTML <title> attribute to be different from the story title. Currently, it supports two macros: %story_title% and %website_name%. If you require additional macros to insert story properties into the template, then just get in touch.

You can now create colour palettes by manually selecting colors or importing an Adobe Swatch Exchange (.ase) file. Our editor also includes an eyedropper tool that allows you to quickly select colors from images. Furthermore, the active palette is saved per story, ensuring that your preferences are retained if you revisit the story later. With this new feature, you can easily add a splash of color to your projects and streamline your workflow.

The interactive data center is a new section in studio that is dedicated to managing interactive components and fetching their reports. Interactive components can now be managed as separate entities outside of the story context, allowing them to be shared across multiple stories, saving time on their creation and data collation.

In Web Stories, interactive components can now be added as freestyle layers, which means multiple can be added to a single scene and they can be combined with other freestyle design elements.

We are currently working on bringing the same functionality to Brand Stories.

It is now possible to select a gradient text color.

Since the underlying implementation relies on background color with text clipping, please keep in mind that it isn't compatible with background color, text decoration settings or super/subscript. Despite this limitation, it allows for some neat looking effects!

Sliders have arrived in Web Stories! These are a great way of gathering feedback from users in real-time while preventing them from anchoring too strongly on the possible input range.

We took this opportunity to rethink how we handle interactive components, and are launching a new dedicated section in studio. The Interactives section currently only lists sliders, but quizzes and polls will be migrated over in the near future.

We also plan to bring sliders to Brand Stories very soon.

Finally, Twitter embeds can now be added to Web Stories.

Audio layers

It is now possible to upload audio files and add invisible audio layers to scenes. This can be used to add e.g. background music or spoken word without a video track. The uploader also allows recording audio via a microphone.

Third-party uploader integrations

We've also added Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox integrations to the uploader, to make it easier than ever to import media from a variety of sources.

A new layer type has been introduced that allows free hand drawing with configurable strokes and colors onto a scene using the mouse. It’s a great way to add a personal touch to your stories.

The uploader has been rebuilt from the ground up to provide a fast and friction-less experience when working with media files.

Drag and drop (or copy and paste) support has also been improved. Drop media from your local file system directly onto the scene and start working with it almost immediately, without even needing to open the media library.

Web story outlinks

Calls to action for Web Stories have undergone a UX refresh. The updates are intended to bring in more consistency and offer a better experience for users. It is worth noting that third-party URLs now open in the same browser tab, and it is also now possible to add a CTA to a Web Story cover scene.

Text editing just got better with rich text formatting, making it easier to style responsive text that flows across the story effortlessly. 

We’ve combined the previous text layer types (h1, h2, h3, p) into a single ‘text layer’ to allow more flexibility in text styling and formatting. Instead of having to add different text layer types, you can now add a text layer and adjust the text within the text box accordingly. This simply means you can apply different weights, colours, styles and fonts to different selections of text within the same box to elevate the scene’s typography.

Group selection and improved alignment tools

With group selection, you can now easily work with several layers at once. Select multiple layers by dragging the mouse or shift-clicking. Then apply group actions such as align and distribute, rotate or resize onto the selected layers.

We’ve also introduced a ruler to aid in the alignment and placement of objects, as well as a feature that allows you to define a set of custom guides in both portrait and landscape orientations. This should give you better control in terms of positioning your objects consistently across scenes.

• Added option to stretch media/shape layers horizontally and vertically to the full width/height of the scene

• Added text vertical align options, to control how text layers expand/contract as content is added/removed

It is now possible to right-click on a layer or scene to open a menu with context-specific actions to perform. This is also a good way of discovering all of the keyboard shortcuts. We will likely extend the menu in future and add to other objects in the editor, where it makes sense to do so.

Media panel group selection

We've added the ability to select multiple items in the media panel, in order to perform group actions. The currently supported actions are 'add to scene' and 'remove from library'.
